Home Electronics
Found in most households, home electronics are everyday appliances used around the home to make day to day life easier. Most if not all home appliances nowadays are electronic, which was not always the way. The shift from manual appliances to electronic over the decades has improved the speed and ease of household jobs. Some home electronics are used for cleaning, such as the vacuum cleaner, washing machine and dryer. Other home electronics are for food preparation, such as a freezer, blender or microwave. It is not uncommon for most households to have electronics in the home purely for entertainment, such as video game consoles, televisions, and music players. Not to forget electronics used for communications, such as computers and telephones.
With such items becoming widely regarded as necessities, it forces home electric companies to mass produce and constantly bring out new products. Because of this, it causes the price of these appliances and devices to be constantly dropping then rising as a new technology is brought out.
More and more companies are bringing out home electronics which are environmentally ‘green’ in that they are environmentally friendly, for example, solar powered electronics. Companies are under more pressure to become more ‘green’ as it is acknowledged that home appliances waste a lot of energy when left on ‘stand by’, in that they are turned off but not properly; creating what is known as e-waste. E-waste is also an issue for the disposal of home electronics, as some can release dangerous and harmful chemicals into the atmosphere.
