PC Components
PC Components are also referred to as PC Hardware; they are the physical components inside a Personal Computer which make it work. These components are stored and connected inside the main computer tower. Here, the hardware can be installed and run off computer software, such as an operating system. Other PC components which are essential for a PC to run, (often called peripherals) are Monitors, a Keyboard, and a mouse, so that a PC user can actually access the software to run the hardware.
There are several parts or components which make a computer work, the main components being the Motherboard, the Central Processing unit (which can be considered as the ’brain’ of the computer), as well as the RAM which acts as the ‘memory’ of a computer. A lot of these components can get hot inside a computer whilst running, and so there is a fan running to cool these components down when in use to prevent damage to any hardware.
It is becoming more popular for PC users to custom build their computers; choosing the individual PC components most suited to their needs, whether they need faster RAM or more memory space for data. Custom built PCs often run faster or more efficiently for the user due to the personal choice of PC components. Some components are considered removable for most PC users, such as CD drives, DVD drives and now HD DVD drives (Blu-Ray drives) which are often optional for PC customers when purchasing their computers.
